In 2007 over 200 community leaders gathered together over 6 months to deliberate the presenta state of literacy in Onondaga County and to envision a better future.
Resulting from this the community developed a set of goals predicated on seeing improvement in the following 7 community literacy indicators.
Community Literacy Indicators:
3. Increased high school graduation rates.
4. Increased number of adult learners who make educational gain.
5. Increased number of children who read or are read to daily.
7. Increased funding and community support for literacy related programs and services.
8. Increased number of adult learners entering or retaining employment.
