What does this indicator measure?

This indicator measures the number of people that were in the working age population (18 to 64 years of age) in 2009, their share of the total population in 2000 and 2009, and the growth/change in their population from 2000 to 2009.  The measure is presented for the Syracuse, Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA’s), as well as the United States, All Metro Areas aggregate, and the 100 Largest Metro Areas aggregate where applicable.

After modest growth in the past two decades, America’s senior population will begin to mushroom as the leading edge of the huge baby boom generation turns 65 in 2011.
