What does this indicator measure?

This indicator measures the total number of Part I and Part II crimes, in Syracuse, from 2000-2010.

Crimes are classified as “Part I” if they are violent crimes or property crimes. Part 1 crimes include: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, grand larceny, petit larceny, and arson.

Crimes are classified as “Part II” if they are crimes against persons, public disorder crimes, or drug/alcohol offences. Part 2 crimes include: possession or sale of of marijuana or other controlled substances and possession or use of dangerous weapons.
