What does this indicator measure?

This indicator is a measure of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita (per person) in several, similar upstate Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA’s), from 2008 to 2011.  GDP is the market value of all officially recognized final goods and services produced within a country in a given period of time.  MSA’s are a geographic unit used by the census to capture economic “systems”.  They usually include one county with an urban core/city and some adjoining counties that conduct a lot of commerce with each other.
